Books for Africa: We are getting BOOKS, what a blessing!

The mission of Books For Africa (BFA) is to end the book famine in Africa. They are the world’s largest shipper of donated textbooks and library books to the African continent. More than 27 million books have been sent to 46 African countries since they began their work in 1988. Just last year, they sent 1.9 million books to 21 African countries.

Books For Africa shipments are finances by the beneficiaries. Therefor: If you want to bless us with a financial support for this project, please do so and name the donation "Books For Africa project".

Books For Africa ships 40- foot containers holding approxi-mately 22,000 English books. The books are donated, and are gently used or new. They can also supply refurbished com-puters and new encyclopedia sets at additional cost. Books For Africa ships 40-foot sea containers to major sea ports in Africa, including Kampala.

20 pallets fit in one 40-foot container. We may order full pallets (eg. 1 pallet of Secondary Math) or ½ pallets (eg. ½ pallet post-secondary leisure reading). There are about 1,000 books on one pallet.

The Books are organized by category and age level (based U.S. grade level teaching standards). “Leisure reading” books refer to picture books for young readers or novels for older readers.
