Last week's P.7. Conference
VISION FOR AFRICA INTL P.7 CONFERENCE REPORT
Theme: ‘Looking unto Jesus, He is coming soon’ Heb 12:2; Rev 22:7-12
It was of great honor to receive 298 pupils in the primary seven conferences. On arrival the pupils were so excited and happy expecting a lot from the conference with a warm welcome from the counselors and program team that worked so hard to see that the campers enjoy their stay while at vision.
On the same Monday evening, we had a grand opening of the conference and pastor Ambale Hannington welcomed the campers with a message from our theme but basically looking at salvation. He taught that it is through salvation that we are able to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ. He went ahead to encourage the campers that by Faith God is with us and he will never abandon us.
BIBLE TIME
We had two main preachers during Bible time and these were:
Madam Dianah Egesa Kasule
In the same line with the theme of our conference, madam Dianah taught about salvation as the only door and that is why we have to look unto Jesus. Using the book of John 3:16 -17, she emphasized how Salvation is the only way that we can be saved.
She went ahead to explain John 1:12 which says “But all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” She emphasized that is only when you have believed in the son of God that you will be saved and that is when you will become a child of God.
On the following day, she emphasized looking unto Jesus as her sub topic. We read from the book of John 6:35 “Jesus said to them, I am the bread of Life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
She emphasized that we should look to Jesus always. We should not focus on the things that make us turn away from Gd like the words spoken to us eg “your parent says that you are stupid” such statements should not take our attention but always we should look unto Jesus.
She gave the illustration of the Disciples while in the storm, when they looked at the storm, it persisted but when they turned their eyes unto Jesus, the storm immediately stopped.
Pastor Phiilip Sayuni
He preached from the book of Genesis 1:1-26 , Man was made in God’s own image. After the fall, man Disobeyed God and we get this in Genesis 2:17. After the fall of man, there was fear shame etc.
We also read from the book of Romans 3:23, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. He explained that Adam tried to cover sin but he emphasized that it is only Jesus Christ who can cover sin.
From the teachings, many pupils were touched and many gave their lives to Christ.
GAMES
Besides the teachings from the Bible, the pupils enjoyed the games which we always had every day. This was not for only the campers but even the camp staff enjoyed the games. The games were aimed at bringing team work amongst themselves. The campers are enjoying the games (Netball for the girls and football for the boys).
SING AND FUN
The pupils also had time to have fun. During this time, the pupils expressed themselves using the different talents that they have. The students danced, sung, and did different activities during this time. It was all about having fun and below are some of the pictures.
The choir also did a very good job in leading us to the throne of God through praise and worship!
FOOD
Not only did we have fun, fellowship we also had time to eat food and below are some of the pictures while the students are having meals which was in plenty and because of this we thank the kitchen department so much for they did a great work during this conference;
GROUP DISCUSSIONS
After the pupils listening to the word of God, they had to sit in their groups and discuss with their counselors what they had learnt and to help those who hadn’t understood while in the sessions. And below are some of the pictures while the students are having group discussions.
DEDICATION NIGHT
The pupils are dedicating themselves and in this it was a symbol that they will burn for Christ everywhere they go.
In a nut shell, the conference was full of fun, fellowship. The pupils went smiling, changed and encouraged because of the message that was preached and the different activities that we did. We bless the Lord for all of the departments that have stood with us since we started the conferences.
