Pottery students study tour, 30th June – 2nd July 2017
Five of our students experienced a great study excursion tour together with their teachers last month. They went all the way up to the Western Uganda to explore more about pottery.
First stop was the ceramic department at UTC - Uganda Technical Collage in Bushenyi. Next was Mutaka mineral site where a guide gave detailed explanation about all the minerals like Quartz, Kaoline, Feldspar, Beryllium, mica, possium and we were able to enter the mines, see them physically and each sample was brought to our pottery workshop. Special interest was how Kaoline is mined and processed in its uniqueness.
In the tiles industry our students had the opportunity to carry out a tile sample and to learn about different methods of tile productions.
The tour ended finally at the beautiful Kitagata hot springs which was seen as a special place for the aged people who need much of the care.
On the end of this days we went home with many good and interesting experiences, new ideas that we want put into practice
