PrintPromotion seminar at the Christian College
In September 2013 we started the first course as a college after receiving a temporary license in December 2012. In June and August this year 51 students left the college after successfully finishing their exams. We are especially proud of them since the Hotel Management Certificate class finished the national UBTEB-exams as the best in the whole of Uganda.
After a few years as a school we now have a good reputation in the Hotel- and Printing industry in Uganda. This also allowed us to hold 2 advanced education seminars for printers from Uganda during the school holidays in the past 2 years.
Another highlight was a 3-day seminar held by PrintPromotion in our college. PrintPromotion is an NGO of the print- and paper industry in Germany. One main focus of their activities is to support the print-media industry through numerous seminars for leaders and expert workers. So far being active mainly in Europe, South America and Asia, the seminary at our college was their first one on the African continent.
19 participants from printing schools and print shops from Uganda and Kenia were trained on the equipment of the college - from prepress to print - and were introduced to the latest techniques. The seminar was held by trainers of the education centre for polygraphy in Chemnitz, Germany. The topics were densitometry, color management, quality assurance in prepress and press and the workflow of a printshop.
In order to get a certificate, the participants had to do a final exam whereby the one with best marks was promised a free 4-weeks intense course in September 2016 at AZP in Chemnitz, a partner institute of PrintPromotion. Our good education standard of our college was confirmed by the fact that Isaac Neuwelt, a teacher in our college, was the one with highest scores in the exam and awarded with this chance.
Thank you to PrintPromotion or this seminar and the continuous support that we get from them.
